In close coordination with our patients' concerns, we set the priorities for their treatment and accompany them. Physical, psychological and social aspects of illness and health are given equal consideration so that perfectly tailored and efficient support is available during inpatient and outpatient care. All patients undergoing treatment at the University Hospital Graz clinics are eligible for this support, which is provided by our psychosomatic/psychotherapy consultation services and our clinical psychology services. In addition, psychotherapy and clinical psychology follow-up care or further supervision is possible as part of our outpatient treatment services. The need for special psychosocial care in certain medical areas—for example oncology, transplantation medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatric and adolescent medicine, neurology and neurosurgery or the pain clinic—is met through more intensive collaboration with these departments. We are constantly expanding our professional skills by integrating the latest developments in evidence-based medicine in the "PSY" disciplines (psychosomatic medicine, psychotherapy, clinical psychology and health psychology, psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine) and from our own research and teaching in biopsychosocial medicine.
The uniqueness and the added value of our department are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The department is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes). This interdisciplinary cooperation between both providers at the University Hospital Graz site is also reflected on our website. More information on patient care can be found at the University Hospital Graz website.
