This research area focuses on diagnosis, investigation and psychotherapeutic treatment of personality-related difficulties based on the model of operationalized psychodynamic diagnostics (OPD) for determining level of personality functioning, building relationships, handling conflict situations and processing conflicts. This enables a psychodynamic diagnosis accessible to patients in daily life and specific selection of the focus of psychotherapy relevant to further psychotherapeutic treatment. The PDP clinic also has a trauma-specific focus in diagnosis, investigation and psychotherapeutic treatment of people with traumatic experiences in childhood and adolescence. Limitations in the level of personality functioning frequently associated with it and specific difficulties in building relationships are taken into account in focal therapy. Due to early and in part severe destabilization of basic trust, special attention is paid to strengthening ego functions in psychotherapy in the PDP clinic. This leads to increased resilience (mental resistance), improved salutogenesis (becoming healthy) and disease management mechanisms and thus improved holistic health as well.
